Week 2

What did you do this past week?

This past week, I set up a working environment (which was harder than I expected it to be) and read the code that we were provided for the project and began planning what I will do for my solution. I have not yet wrote any code for the project, but I have a fairly good idea of what I need to do.

What’s in your way?

My biggest issue so far is dedicating time to working on the project. I do feel fairly confident in my understanding of the problem and of the concepts we discussed in class, so I am looking forward to beginning work.

What will you do next week?

This next week, I plan to begin work on the project, and hopefully get a first concept working, which I will then iterate on and improve over the remainder of the week. As Professor Downing said, it is best to get something that works first, and then improve on that, and I plan to do just that when working on my project.

What was your experience of assertions, unit tests, coverage, and continuous integration? (this question will vary, week to week)

I haven’t yet started coding, but the information that Professor Downing provided us about each of these topics will be useful during this project. I expect that implementing these will help greatly in writing good, working code.

What made you happy this week?

I play on the UT Ultimate Frisbee club team, and this week we started preparing for a tournament that we have next weekend. I feel like our team is looking good, just in time for the start of the season. Also, I went to the UT basketball game on Saturday, which we won, so I was excited about that.
