CS373 Spring 2021: Matthew Bianchi
Week 1
Hi! My name is Matthew Bianchi. I am a fourth year Computer Science major at the University of Texas. I grew up in north Austin, and have lived here all my life. I attended high school at St. Dominic Savio in north Austin, where I played basketball and ran track, in addition to performing in the school orchestra as a violinist. I chose to come to UT because it is a great school with an amazing computer science program. I really enjoy computers and making them work, so I decided to pursue computer science.

I chose to take this class because it had several topics that I did not know a lot about, but that I felt would be useful for my future as a computer scientist. I know a lot of Python, but not much JavaScript, SQL or other web programming, and I feel that this class would be a good way to learn about those topics. I expect for this class to have several hard but valuable projects, and I hope the lectures combined with them give me what I need to succeed after college. With regard to cold-calling, I have taken Prof,. Downing’s Object Oriented Programming, so I see it as a good way for people to get involved in the class. He is very patient with everyone, and doesn’t care if you dont know the answer before he asks you, only after. So far, I enjoyed the first two lectures, and am excited to see what the rest of the class brings!
